nasmformyzombie
I know the sync plugs for M2 and M3 are not interchangable with the M6. What about M4 and M6 plugs?
Rob F.
What about them? You mean, what are they like? The plugs on my M6's are smaller than the ones that fit my M2 and M3. The smaller plug is needed to slip into the PC sockets, since they have a smaller opening than the old Leitz sockets. They just slip in, they don't snap in like on the M2 and M3. I don't have an M4, but from pictures of it in Rogliatti, it looks like it takes the same smaller plug as the M6. Is that what you needed to know? ronald_moravec1
M4 on took regular PC connectors. The really nice Leica ones on my M3 and M2 were replaced with pc due to the difficulty of getting Leica sync plugs which were markedly superior. They never fall out short of a kid pulling on them, make that large kid.
nasmformyzombie
My question is this: do the M4 and M6 use the same sync plugs?
andrew1
Yup. (M4 and M6 covers are interchangable.)
stephen_w.
Then why did Sherry unsolicitedly change my original M4 flash sockets for "modern" ones. IIRC, the plugs were the same white ones as my long gone M3 plugs.
john_newell2
>>change my original M4 flash sockets for "modern" ones<< Do you mean the sockets or the plugs? The M4 always had the "modern" PC sockets, like the M5, M4-2, M4-P, M6, etc., but unlike the M2 and M3. Or do you mean that she replaced the plastic plugs that were in the sockets? I don't recall seeing white plastic plugs, though there may have been some in the early years of the M4 (i.e., late 1960s). The PC socket plugs have been black plastic for as long as I remember, though I could be forgetting something.
stephen_w.
She changed both sockets. They were initially quite low with only a small bevel around the sockets. Now (then), they stick out quite far. I'll have to wait to check my M6/7 to see if they looked like that.
