VC-Meter dead

Recommended Posts

Hi,

as my VC-Meter dropped to the floor and remaind dead I need your help: what

could be damaged so that it doesn't seem to work? It shows scratches on one

edge but everything looks ok even inside, no wire cut or little platine broken.

I confess I'm a little bit disappointed that such an electronic thing without

any moving parts refused to work any longer.

kind regards

Thomas

Cannot imagine that a drop to the floor would disable the VC meter. The only thing you can

do to it is to change the battery. That might work for no good reason at all. It might be

cheaper to buy a new one than to repair the old one. If you have a warranty, you might send

it in for service, without detailed explanations.

I can ... this sounds to me like something was in contact and now it isn't. Sounds to me like a rougher or wider manufacturing tolerance. Something as simple as the distance between the little orange button you press to activate the meter and the metal contact inside it getting shaken loose so now you push on it and the two don't touch.

What makes a circuit not a circuit? An open circuit! I dropped a flash once and it no longer

worked. I imagine some wires or contacts inside your meter are no longer together correctly.

It may be fixable or it may not be worth fixing. If it's out of warranty, and you can figure out

how to open it, you could look to see if anything is obviously wrong.
