seb v.
Has anyone shot a 28mm lens with the .85 viewfider and NO aux viewfinder? I shoot enviro portraits and street shots, NO archietecture. Will it be ok to shoot a 28mm like this? Seb
kbg32
.72 finder is tight enough. Can't imagine the .85 finder would work at all.
Jochen_S
It depends on your imagination potential. I could hardly use a 28mm with 0.72mag. Another thing is I have a hard time seeing the entire 90mm wire frame of my 4x5"'s sportsfinder, so I really want a optical finder for 28mm on the Leicas. OTOH if decades of SLR use have burned the FOV of a 28mm into your mind, I see no problem.
david11
I rarely use my 28 lens with my .85 M6, but when I do, it is with the CV auxilliary 28 finder. The 35 frame is plenty tight on this camera. I prefer to use my .58 camera with the 28 and 35 lenses.
35mmdelux
OUCHH. No way. Tried my 35 Cron w/ the .85. Never again.
shambrick007
Like the others have said - the 35mm frames barely fit on .85.
stephen_w.
The 0.85 doesn't have 28 framelines.
stuart_richardson
Yes, as Stephen says, the .85 does not have 28mm framelines. I suppose you could use the whole viewfinder as an approximation, but it depends on how picky you are. As far as I am concerned the .85 finder is for people who DON'T want to use a 28mm lens. It works fine for all other lenses...the super wides require a finder anyway, and the 35mm is usable, so it is really only the 28mm that does not fare well on the .85. mark-j
I completely agree with the previous posters. I have tried it, and now use a Leica aux 28 finder with the 0.85. Even with the 0.72 it is difficult when wearing glasses. I do not feel that using the entire viewfinder is a good compromise.
seb v.
Thanks for the comments. It's pretty conclusive. Seb.
john_brewton
Seb, I had an M6TTL w/.85 viewfinder and a 28 Elmarit. There are no framelines for the 28. You CAN still get very nice images, however they will be significantly larger than the viewfinder view.
