fanta
As I connect my RebelXT to the PC, I get an error message "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" Canon EOS Utility and ZoomBrowser do not recognize the camera, which shows with an exclamation mark in Windows Device Manager. Did anybody run into the same issue? It used to work fine last time I tried (a few months ago). Here things I tried, without resolving the problem. 1) Un-installed and re-installed the camera from Device Manager 2) Un-installed and re-installed Canon WIA drivers for the camera (latest version, just downloaded from Canon web site) 3) In additio to 2), installed latest version of all Canon applications, just downloaded from Canon web site 4) Re-installed Service Pack 2 for Win XP 5) Connected the camera to a different USB2 port 6) Changed the USB2 cable Any idea?<div></div>
rainer_t
Francesco, not the answer to the question you asked, but the end of the trouble you have anyway ... get a Usb2 flash card reader. Rainer
fanta
Rainer, I already have that thanks. However, I need the camera to PC connection to work in order to use Canon Remote Capture, which I find very useful to test lenses etc.
hakhtar
Problem probably is that an IRQ has not been allocated to the device! This normally happens if the IRQ has not been released to the device in question. (a) check in BIOS that auto selection for IRQ has been checked (b) go to the device manager window and delete the the exclamation marked item © uninstall all canon camera software (restart if commanded) (d) shut down the computer - unplug all USB cables (e) boot and install the Canon software - connect the camera you might have to repeat all this if unsuccessful. if no joy then you would need to flash the BIOS. good luck
aleskoubik
Francesco, $20 USB2 card reader saves a lot of hassle. It is worth every penny. Good luck A.
beauh44
Hi Francesco, You might try disconnecting any and all *other* USB components you might have (external hard drives, printers, etc) temporarily. If you have a USB hub, don't use it for the test. Just plug the camera and nothing else into one of your USB ports and try again. It's a long shot but what the heck? Sometimes one USB device will confuse another. Good luck!
rainer_t
Check the connection mode in the camera menu ... (normal vs. ptp) should be set to normal. Rainer
fanta
Probably Mus guessed it right. Under Device Manager, in the Properties the Resources tab is missing. I have installed the latest BIOS version, and then re-installed the WIA drivers with no success yet. I guess I will have to try un-installing and re-installing al Canon software and see what happens. fanta
Un-installing and re-installing Canon software did not help. Actually my PC was not recognizing any imaging device anymore, such as my Epson scanner and Minolta film scanner. I later found out that the problem was somehow related to the drivers for Logitech QuickCam Pro 5000, a web cam. I realised the issues had started after installing that web cam. I have un-installed the web cam divers, and my PC resumed recognizing other imaging devices normally, including my Canon Rebel XT.
