aizan_sasayama
if the m6/m7/mp 50mm framelines are the same as those in the hexar rf i have, the sbooi will show the exact same coverage.
35mmdelux
I shoot knowing a little extra will be included on the film, nevermind the automatic cropping in 4x5 or 4x6 sized photos.
squareframe
concentrate on something other than framelines. I am betting your images will improve in doing so. or, blow through a roll of film and discover, for yourself, the boundaries of your lens-coverage and work within it. peace
jtdnyc
Another reason not to worry about framelines too much: if you're concentrating on the subject in a dynamic situation, you might want a little bit extra around the edges to allow a slight bit of cropping to fine-tune the composition in the darkroom or in Photoshop. Yeah, I know some of the "masters" supposedly printed full frame only...but if we haven't seen their contact sheets, we don't how many great shots never got printed because of that philosophy. And as John Loengard's book "Celebrating The Negative" showed some years ago, not every picture in the 3:2 aspect ratio with a black border is actually full frame. john15
The 35mm format is small enough without having to crop the image. I think that the 50mm frame lines in the M6 are really only accurate at about 1 meter or so. There are ways to estimate frame coverage at various distances which pretty much work, sort of, if you remember the little tricks. All part of the Leica Mystique. furcafe
Aizan: FYI, if my Hexar RF is any guide, the Hexar's 50mm framelines are bigger than those in the M6/M7/MP (about 1 frameline's thickness all around)
