doug grosjean
Nice job, Gene. Thanks for the update. Neat to look at two photos so far apart in time and politics.
bsmith
Gene M. Quite possibly one of the most valuable contributors on the internet today. Thank you for sharing these photos.
triode___
I now look forward to new photos you post. I wonder if any of the people in the photos are still alive. Surely the kids in them would be. I wonder if there is a way of tracking them down. Would love to hear the story of their lives esp the soldiers. pico
Gene, your project is priceless and wonderful to view. Thanks for everything. Sometimes I look at your lost pictures with certain trepedation, wondering if I will find a member of the family. I wonder if others feel the same? (It is not so far-fetched! I have a regular search on that auction site and once found a picture of my mother taken in the thirties. A fellow apparently buys up old albums and boxes of photos and auctions those he thinks are unique. My mother was pretty, so the picture was a natural candidate.) joshx
Gene, I would say that this is your best yet. Keep 'em coming.
jack_lo_..._t_o
Gene that could be a movie. At least I feel as if I just watched one. A good one, about the 2nd World War and the lives of ordinary people.
jonathan_james
I'm totally blown away by these, Gene. You've had some great finds in the past but I really think this surpasses anything you've pulled up to date. This is a fascinating set of true historical worth. steve_crognale
Just an FYI. That "government" building is the monument to Vittorio Emmanuel. He unified Italy in the 19th century. The monument is also very unaffectionately known as "the wedding cake".
