jim_karthauser
Hi all, Woe is me, last weekend i was rushing and when setting my 580 up on the tripod to use as a slave with the ST-E2 I stupidly forgot to tighten the lock ring. Result? As soon as I picked up the tripod to move it, the unit slid out of the plastic shoe stand and onto the floor. I had a little lumiquest softbox on the flash and I'm sure it landed on this, NOT the actual unit, but its broken the little off/master/slave switch and for some reason its stuck on master! No idea how this broke as the unit has no mark on the outside to show an impact from the hotshoe end- unscrewed the bottom cover and I've discovered that the microswitch has broken off of the board. Question number one- Anyone else ever had a problem like this? I'm surprised it should be that fragile for ?250! Question number two- Any idea how to get the unit properly apart as i'm fairly certain with a bit of careful soldering I can reattach the switch and evrything will be sweet... Question three- Any idea how to get hold of spare circuitboards? PS I took the unit apart as I am certain that canon cannot help me, I bought the flash from hongkong so no warranty, plus i dropped it so not a fault of the manufacturer? Any advice AT ALL is much appreciated! I am desperate! Kind regards All Jim
jim_karthauser
Or does anyone know a repair shop in England that would be able to help?
mark u
Try Fixation in Vauxhall, or Lehmans in Stoke - both Canon authorised repair shops.
