maestro logos
Hi,
I'm interested in acquiring an R6.2 body. I like everything about this body, except that it may have a little bit more of a mirror slap than I'd like.
Not having shot with this camera myself, I'd love to hear comments from experienced users. Thanks.
jay_.
I have two R6.2's and an R6. They, and all the R's I've handled save for the R8, have a nice "ker-chunk" when fired, but the slap occurs on the mirror's downstroke, not the upstroke. Therefore, it happens after the exposure has been made. In addition, the R6, 6.2 and 7 all have mirror pre-release mechanisms so that when working at great magnifications or slow speeds (on a tripod of course!) you can take the mirror entirely out of the picture, so to speak. The R6.2 is a good camera. It has everything I need for my use of the Leica R system, it is small and light and there's not much electronics to go haywire, and even if they do the camera will still function. If you are considering a second-hand purchase and can give up the 1/2000 speed, the R6 is a real bargain as Leicas go.
kens
Maestro - check some of the threads under Older Messages - Leica R. There are discussions about the 6.2 and other Leica SLR models.
