evan_sears
Hey everybody, I'm looking to go for rechargable in lieu of constantly having to throw away spent alkalines. It feels too wasteful to be throwing out 10 batteries per week- I shoot a ton, and use the SB-800. Does anyone have any experience using rechargables in this flash? Any recommendations besides getting a quantum pack? Thanks, EVan
conrad_fischer1
Check this out for an overdone look at various batteries http://www.imaging-resource.com/ACCS/BATTS/BATTS.HTM
leicaglow
Evan, Yes! I bought some quick rechargeables at BHPhoto that are a bit off-brand, but they work great. They charge quickly and the SB-800 works fine with them. I think it's these, but the color of the battery may have changed: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=details_accessories&A=details&Q=&sku=432728&is=REG&addedTroughType=accessory_detail&addedTroughValue=300467_USA. A full day of shooting requires two sets of AA's. I was considering the Nikon battery pack, but they never seemed to release it.
evan_sears
Update: I ended up getting a set of eFilm rechargeable AA's and they're pretty good, I must say. They charge quick and provide a whole day's worth of fires at an alarmingly fast recycle time. Although I have no basis of comparison, I'm pretty satisfied. clark_crosby
Definitely, Yes! Buy brand names, they cost more, but the chances of getting junk are somewhat reduced. A small "smart" charger will keep them operating at peak efficiency.
