mark_sam
Thanks Ladies & Gents: I have wrestled with trying to decide just what to do in terms of a bigger reach, but with clarity. Zoom (w/ less clarity or prime) Darn near bought Tamron 200-400, thought about the Canon 100-400. Sigma-bigma, etc. After reading your posts and reviews, I decided to buy the Canon EF 300mm f/4 USM L IS, which seems like the bargain in Prime lenses from Canon. I also bought the 1.4X which from what I'm reading works quite well. I've already got the Sigma 70-200 F/2.8, that will have to do as the zoom I wanted,I have the 1.4X with that but it seems to compromise somewhat with that attached, but in any event, your patience with Newbies really helps. Can't wait for Christmas! Thanks again.

dan_roche
There's no doubt you made the right choice. I'm hoping Santa will bring me an L-series prime tele this year, but I've probably been too naughty.
