iMac 20" Intel Core 2

Can anyone tell me how this monitor diplays images and fonts? Right now I have a

loner mac mini and a Benq LCD monitor. The fonts are bitmapped and my

photographs look terrible. I don't know if it's the mini or the LCD screen but I

hate it. I've had a great apple CRT for the past 6 years but I need to buy a new

computer. The new iMac fits nicely in my budget and has everything I need - just

want to know about the LCD...

Does a great job for me. I am workign with iamges from from 6mp up to 22mp. Type is

rendered well

too.

 

I have also profiled and calibrated mine. As shipped it is way too bright. iuse a

gretagmacbeth Eye One Photospectrometer.

You'll love it.

 

Avoid playing something like "House of Flying Daggers" on it. You'll really be done for

then.

 

Anymore it pains me to come in to work and have to look at this dreary Sony CRT in front

of me.

You might be seeing everything pixelated because you are not viewing the LCD in its native resolution. LCDs are fixed pixels, so you really should run it at what it is rated at. Find out what resolution your Mac is on, and find out what resolution the LCD wants. That might fix the problem.

The problem might also be that you have a BenQ LCD. They make pretty low-end stuff. Further, Mac OSX uses Display PostScript so smoothing should not be an issue regardless of res.

Just wanted to follow up. The monitor rocks! So much better than the Benq.
