steven blumenkranz
Good Lord! All this fuss over a definition when it was a simple question that was posed. Does DOF change when you crop an image? The answer is NO. DOF is defined by the focal length of the lens, the aperture, and the SELECTED circle of confusion. PERIOD. Cropping of an image, the equivilent of a smaller than full24x36 mm sensor, does not change the DOF defined for the lens. If you want to change the definition of DOF to account for the selection of different circles of confusion, you will end up with a huge mess. It was a simple question and it deserved a simple answer.
