Rolleicord IV stuck at frame 1?

I was in the process of testing a Rolleicord IV.

I loaded some film and followed the directions (online manual) and wound the

film until I reached frame 1 on the counter. When I fire the shutter I can't

advace to the next frame. Am I missing something? a hidden swicth?

In the center of the advance/winding knob there is a button which must be pushed in to release the locking mechanism in order to advance the film. You probably know about this. However, these buttons and the interior mechanism is often frozen with dried grease and must be totally cleaned. This involves a disassembly of the entire mechanism and often removal of the camera side as well. It's a nice camera and is worth the cost of a CLA.

There's no button on the advance knob on the IV and later Rolleicords, but the rest is probably right. A cleaning made by a professional would fix this problem.

Had the same problem recently, but camera was not broken. On the front of the camera near the centerline of the two lenses is a switch for double exposures. When it show red, it is set for double exposure and does not advance the film.

 

Bet that is your problem.
