anthony_bez
Hello, I have a Nikon mount Tokina 12mm-24mm which I have not used so often lately? Well shooting with it yesterday, I fell for the 12mm effect again. But it reminded me of a problem I have with it. Vignetting with my standard (Blue Series) Hoya polariser. My question will the Thin pro series Hoya/Kenko solve my problem? I do not want to purchase one and find they vignette, even if it is less than the standard filter. dbcooper
With a Nikon 12-14mm on a D70s, at the wide end (12mm), I remove the UV/Skylight 'lens protecting' filter before attaching the 'slim' circular polarizer. 'Slim' circular polarizers can come with or without front filter threads...I use a Hoya with front threads, and have never had a vignetting problem. The sky color, however, will change in saturation as I change the view toward/away from 90 deg. to the sun. With my back to the sun in broad daylight, I sometimes get a 'look' that can simulate vignetting at the upper corners (the sky), but it's just the nature (physics, actually) of a polarizer on a super-wide lens. I also shoot with a 'normal thickness' .6 (4x) circular ND grad, and don't get vignetting either, but if I 'stack' both, I get it.
