R6.2 Quality and Passion?

Recommended Posts

Leica equipment is way overpriced and overrated. If money is not an

issue for you, knock your self out. But if not, Nikon equipment,

particulurly older bodys and lenses is very inexpensive compared to

Leica equipment. Manual focus Minolta equipment is excellent too. The

best Minolta body, in my opinion, is the X-570, because it has match-

LED metering in manual mode, and lacks the useless (to me) fully auto

mode. Minolta lenses are of excellent optical and outstanding

mechanical quality. I have my Great Grandfather's Leica screw mount

rangerfinder, and given its age its a magnifecent camera, I also have

the original Leicaflex for a while, and I hated it.

If you are using a Leica R6.2 or is thinking of purchasing one, it can only be

for three reasons;

1. For its pure leica quality

2. You have a genuine passion for using leica cameras and glass

and

3. You are tired of being on the hump and not really getting over it.

Leica glass is leica glass...nuff said:-)

Maybe Cosina will take the hint and come out with a "Bessa R", whoops! they already used that name for a rangefinder camera. OK, then how about a Bessaflex SL, an inexpensive, ergonomic body that will work with ALL Leicaflex/R lenses regardless of cam. Nobody would expect Wetzlar/Solms fit and finish, but the higher flash synch would be nice. Maybe a body only price around $800 list. With all that inexpensive 1,2 & 3 cam glass out there going for cheap because it won't meter with the new R bodies ~ WOW! I'm in line already.
