andrewlamb
About 3 years ago I met Nan when she was doing a backstage story at the fashion shows in Paris. She was using an M6 then.
Niels - NHSN
A few years ago, I saw her film "I'll be your mirror" (1996). The documentary had old film clips from NY showing her using Nikon SLR's. I don't think the work that made her career was done with Leica. She was obviously part of the substance abuse scene of the late 70's and early 80's, and I doubt that she could afford a leica at the time. maeghan_donohue
I just read an interview with Goldin in BOMB where she mentioned that she didn't get a Leica until October of 1990. Which means that the Boston and New York photos that began her career couldn't have been taken by a Leica-- The Ballad of Sexual Dependency, for example, was initially published in 1986. Unfortunately, she only said that before the Leica she bought "hot cameras" in the bar where she used to work. She doesn't specify which kind.
