ron_erwin1
Has anyone had any experience taking several camera bodies and lenses into vietnam? I'll have two F100s and a D200, with a lens for each. And did you declare them? I read sometimes that, since they are for personal use only, they don't have to be declared; but then I read the opposite. Thanks for any information or advice. gungajim
I've been to over 180 countries in the past 30 years and can't recall any serious problems. I usually carry 3 cameras and 3 lenses and a variety of other stuff. I do declare them, at least the major items, if requested on the entry form. However, in countries where I have declared, I never remember anyone ever comparing my declaration form with the items in my camera bag upon departure. If I am carrying more than $500 in cash, I usually only declare only $500 - but this is just a personal thing. Remember that most emerging countries welcome your tourist dollars and aren't going to hassle you very much. If anyone has had a contrary experience, I would be very interested in hearing about it. Spearhead
I took three cameras with me when I went to Vietnam and nobody paid any attention. I went through four airports internally, and two on international flights and nobody paid any attention. I've never traveled anywhere that my cameras provoked any interest at customs. emily73
Hi Ron, I'm from Vietnam. You can take all your gears here, many great landscapes and street life photos are waiting for you. :-)
tim_b
I've visited Vietnam three times, on each occasion carrying at least two cameras, a few lenses and a lot of film. No questions were asked, no declaration required. It's not Iraq, they get a LOT of tourists with cameras.
