wbesz
I updated my 2GB CF to 4GB (SanDisk Extreme III), but my camera indicates 113 RAW shots, just as did the 2GB CF previously. The manual says "The CF card's capacity displayed on the formatting screen may be lower than the capacity indicated on the card." Does anyone know how to deal with this problem/bug? bobatkins
Did you format the card in the camera?
wbesz
Yes, first thing I did.

wbesz
Hmmm, ..I wonder if anyone else has a 4GB CF in their 5D (operating successfully?).
wbesz
Thanks Andy, I will visit my store and try another card (if they will open a pack).
jonas_cilieborg
On my 4GB Ultra there is a small hidden switch on the side which can be set in either 2GB or 4GB mode. This is for cameras that only can format up to 2GB, cards. I think I can format it as 2x2GB, but haven't checked as my camera can read 4GB and above
wbesz
Thank you Jonas, hidden micro switch located, ..and I now have 244 RAW indicated on my 5D! My subscription to photo.net has been well rewarded!
mike_webster
With the card face up and the connectors facing away from you note the tiny switch on the side of the card. Throw the switch and I suspect you will find yourself with 4GB of capacity.
snakeroot
I have the same card and indeed, there is a small switch with 3 different settings. Mine is set to 4 GB already, so I didn't see a size smaller than expected (actually displays as 379mb). Did I miss it in the instructions? Cool stuff this Photo.net. Now tell me how this darn Pocketwizard works.
wbesz
Michael, there were no instructions in my package, ..and mine came set to 2GB, so it's a warning to check your card I guess.
sophiafield
I have been using the SanDisk Extreme III 4GB CF cards (I have two of them) on my Canon EOS 5D for the past three months now and I usually get about 248 shots of RAW images. Have you tried "Clearing All Camera Settings" under "Clear Settings" in your menu? That might help.
Sophia Field
www.sophiafield.com
