rolland_elliott
Has anyone ever used the Horseman viewcamera converter with the Pentax 67 camera or anyother medium format camera. I am wondering what you thought of it? Does it allow one to perform shifts and tilts and still focus at infinity? I'm not that familar with view cameras so I appologize if my questions seem rudimentary. For those who haven't hear of it, the horseman view camera converter allows one to perform shifts and tilts on your medium format camera. It's expensive (over 1000 US dollars), do the owners of this equipment think it's worth it? <p> Thanks for any information, Rolland Elliott
brian_c._miller
Here's a couple of ideas: <p> 1: LF lens-to-P67 bellows adapter. Buy the macro bellows, and make a view camera front support for it. I recently bought a used macro bellows, and it came with a view camera lens adapter. The bellows unhooks from the front movement, and then hooks onto the adapter. The adapter allows all the normal front movements. Also, you can buy a body cover, have it drilled for LF Copal size, and then mount it on the front of the bellows. <p> 2: View camera-to-P67 adpater. Buy a used view camera (4x5) and one P67 extension tube. Make a back board which fits the back of the view camera. Cut the extension tube in half. Have a hole drilled in the board for the tube. Epoxy the tube into the board. One guy did this with a Calumet Cadet, and reported good success.
robert_choi
Hi Roland,I happened to have an old magazine descriping the use of a pentax 67 on a 4x5 camera. The way they do it is to buy a spare flange ring(if you flip your pentax lens over ,you will see a bayonet mount with 6 screws on it)This part could be purchased through Pentax or your local repair centre(I hope)then used to screw to a lens board for a 4x5 and install it at the back of the camera. The advantage of this set up is 1)you can use view camera lens which means almost an unlimited assortment from soft focus to long focal length lens.As a comparison,a pentax 67 300mm lens costs $1300us while a nikon M 300mm lens cost $700.The nikon weighs 290g and the pentax weigh 1420g.Plus the fact that a large format lens use leaf shutter, thus allowing synch at all speed. And because when you buy a 4x5 ,it will already come with a ground glass back, you could shoot 4x5 and 6x12 as well. Focusing to infinity should not be a problem as well. The most economic and practical way to do is to use a calumet 400 series camera that cost around $200us and what ever lens that you will choose. If you would like to,i can send you a photocopy of the article and you could have a better look at it. <p> happy shooting
sammy_cheung
Hi Roland,I had made an adaptor to fit P67 to Sinar,as Horsemen & Sinar' assisories can fit with each other, you can do what I have done, and works well, all you need is a lens board, Sinar or Horsemen,a P67's reverse ring,of-couse you have to drill the lens board hole bigger to fit the reverse ring's hole, then fit two things together with screws then you have a" Horsemen or Sinar converter for P67",you just need to fit this "converter" to P67 as a lens, then take the View camara ground glass back out & fit the whole thing instead of the ground glass back, then you can ues all both camara's function,I always use the View camara part only as a lens that have Shifts & tilts function, and keep the view camara lens shutter open only use the P67'S shutter, this setup have a limit is it can only use 150mm lens or longer,I also made a P67 converter for Nikon by uesd a P67 cloes up tube(the short one of the set of three)and a Nikon reverse ring,of-couse you must joint them together with a tube, the length of the whole thing must measure carefully not exceed the length of the thickness difference of "P67 - Nikon" a little shorter is better to ensure the infinity focusing, you also can use two "converter" together to fit Nikon to a view camara. With the "P67/Nikon coverter" alone you can use all P67'S lens in Nikon, those two converters is not available, you must make it by youself, the only manufacture made is "Sinar to Hass." and maybe "Horsemen to Hass."as I know the first one is very expensive, and it make no sense, the major advantage of this set up is to use another camara body's view finder, shutter & film advance, but not all Hass. have thier own shutter,so P67 is the best choice.
