Leica IIIf red/black

Recommended Posts

I think the fundamental difference is in the flash synchronizer. There are no other operational or construction differences noted in the National Camera repair handbook on the III series. While IIIc's are not fully consistent (some have ball bearings, some don't), the IIIf's are quite consistent except for the synchronizer.

Leica prices are determined by rarity, not usefulness.

One benefit of the IIIF RD is that the flash setting dial when set to "O" provides 1/25th sec with electronic flash. But when set to "20" permits 1/50th sec setting with electronic flash.

I don't know about you, but I get better results from 1/50th than 1/25th when schlepping camera body, lens, and flash equipment.
