Old Summilux 50 mm

I'm a relative Leica newby after obtaining my first M4 and 90 mm

summarit (which I love and will never part with?!!!). However, I'm

looking for something somewhat shorter and realize these Leica prices

are quickly prohibitive. Would US$400 be a fair price for a good user

50 mm, F/1.4 Summilux (late sixties, early seventies). I'm going to

check one out tomorrow. Suppose it's got unscratched glass and no

fungus, but shows cosmetic traces on the barrel...

Regards, Huub

Sounds like a very fair price, quite a good deal actually - if indeed in the condition you

mention. Be sure to take the caps off and check the internal elements for haze, and also

check the iris blades for either oil or "polishing." I had a 35 Summicron, version 3, a few

years back - a wonderful optic except the iris blades aquired a rather high polish from use

- which in turn caused some pretty bizzare internal reflections.

Sorry Tony, that was supposed to be Elmarit...;-)

So you think that's a good price for the lux. I'm going to check it out tonight. Hope it is as good as I hope. BTW, the seller also had an M4 going with it. Total price around 800 euros. If it's nice I'll take it along and bay it. Or sell it here...
