exabetal
I'm a relative Leica newby after obtaining my first M4 and 90 mmsummarit (which I love and will never part with?!!!). However, I'mlooking for something somewhat shorter and realize these Leica pricesare quickly prohibitive. Would US$400 be a fair price for a good user50 mm, F/1.4 Summilux (late sixties, early seventies). I'm going tocheck one out tomorrow. Suppose it's got unscratched glass and nofungus, but shows cosmetic traces on the barrel... Regards, Huub
john_layton
Sounds like a very fair price, quite a good deal actually - if indeed in the condition you mention. Be sure to take the caps off and check the internal elements for haze, and also check the iris blades for either oil or "polishing." I had a 35 Summicron, version 3, a few years back - a wonderful optic except the iris blades aquired a rather high polish from use - which in turn caused some pretty bizzare internal reflections. tony_senzaorbi
Dude! If you don't buy that 50 Summilux for $400 please, please tell me where I can buy it!!!! BTW I think you meant 90 Summicron, but if you've really got a 90 Summarit it's a one-of-a-kind worth a fortune!
exabetal
Sorry Tony, that was supposed to be Elmarit...;-) So you think that's a good price for the lux. I'm going to check it out tonight. Hope it is as good as I hope. BTW, the seller also had an M4 going with it. Total price around 800 euros. If it's nice I'll take it along and bay it. Or sell it here...
vincenzo_maielli
I think that Summicron 50 mm f/ 2 are always better than Summilux 50 mm f/ 1,4. Ciao. Vincenzo Maielli Bari Italy
stuart_richardson
Assuming everything works and it is in decent condition (glass clear, RF patch working etc), 800 euros for a M4 and 50/1.4 summilux sounds like an amazing deal. Even better in Europe where Leica stuff tends to be more expensive.
35mmdelux
great price. generally run in the $700 range. enjoy
andyaitken
Absolutely! Buy them both then ebay the M4 and your 50mm Summilux will have cost you nothing (or probably slightly less than nothing).
