melaniec
Got my first roll back. I pretended the light meter works and used it for exposures... guess it still works OK! This is a scan of a negative using my $80 Epson. -- Melanie <img src="http://home.earthlink.net/~soloriver/dogandahalfsmall.jpg">

cpj
The light meter on your Rolleiflex is a selenium cell meter and uses no battery power. Selenium meters either "work" or "don't work." While they can get out of adjustment a little bit from hard knocks, generally you will find if the needle moves, the light meter works. The selenium cell generates a low current when exposed to light and that moves the pointer, so you won't find a selenium meter that "half works" or is more than about a half stop off. Good luck. Nice use of the waist level finder when making shot of the dogs.

dean_matsueda
Great shot. Golden Gate Park? I've been dreaming of finding a nice Rolleiflex 2.8 with a working light meter... they seem wonderful to handle and obviously from your picture, they take equally wonderful images. Hope you're having fun with it!

paul_sauer
Nice. Just keep shooting -- I'm always amazed at how good 6x6 on b&w film looks even when I'm not trying.
d_purdy
..."Nice dreaminess,I like the dog's expression and the sense of foggy day... reminds me of why I like my Rolleiflex."... A Rollieflex does not automatically render a sense of foggy day or dreaminess unless you've got an old one with a hazy lens or something. A 2.8F with a good condition lens gives a very sharp and high contrast and modern looking image. If you want dreamy and foggy get a Holga.
mingus1
exactly the sort of shot one buys a Rolleiflex 6x6 for ... it's got character, depth, warmth and expresses the image very well...
