michael_briggs2
The attachements are tables with info about Xenar, Xeontar, Symmar, Angulon, Super-Angulon, Tele-Xenar and Tele-Arton lenses. Schneider has webpages with similar information in English at http://www.schneideroptics.com/info/vintage_lens_data/

profhlynnjones
Hi, Xenar: usually f4.5, 4 element tessar type (occasionally different for different design purposes), high contrast, low to moderate astigmatism, when sharp it is very sharp, but there has been some variability in quality. 56 degrees coverage Xenotar: Usually f2.8 occasionally 3.5, 5 element, high speed, slightly lower in contrast, very sharp. Has been used in Rollei TLR's, but mostly as press camera lenses. 55+ degrees of coverage Symmar: 6 element plasmat, typically covers at least 70 degrees and commonly used with view cameras due to the wide coverage. Unscrewing the front lens group results in doubling the focal length, nawwowing the coverage to 35 or 40 degrees and the loss of 2 fstops. Made in focal lengths from 135mm through 360mm. Angulon: F6.8, 85 degree coverage, very sharp. Available from 65mm through 210mm. The 210 was highly prized for 8x10 view camera use. Super Angulon: f8.0 about 100 degrees coverage, excellent lens. Focal lengths from 47mm through 165mm. Super Angulon: F5.6 about 105 degrees coverage, very fine quality, created for competitive reasons. Fewer focal lengths. Tele Xenar and Tele Arton: True telephotos, just barely covers the format designed for, less sharp and contrasty than the most modern lenses. The coverage is such that the user can't practically use swings. Lynn
