j._scott_schrader
I shoot a Canon 1Ds, I have been using the Lexar Professional CF cards 1 GB (32x) for the last couple of years. No problem transfering files to the Mac G4 and Mac G5 via a Lexar Media JumpShot Card reader. I recently purchased 3 more 1GB CF cards also Lexar, also 1GB, but 80x this time instead of 32x. The card reader does not recognize these new CF cards. the first one I simply put in the camera and shot it, images are there, but the CF card doesn't recognize it, the second one I put in the camera formated the card from the camera menu, and again, the images are there, but still no recognition of the card from the card reader. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Scott
bill_sams
Card reader driver update for the newer cards ?
lex_jenkins
Ditto the driver update. I have no problem with Lexar 80x CF cards on our Lexar multi-card reader (USB 2.0).
Ed_Ingold
It may be that the software that normally wakes up to download your pictures is set wrong, corrupted or simply out of date. See if the operating system recognizes the card. If you have a PC, use Windows Explorer. If so, you can copy the images to a directory on your hard drive using Explorer. If you can't see it in Explorer, check in the Device Manager. It may help to unplug the USB or FireWire connector for a few seconds with everything powered up (but no card in the reader). If the card reader is recognized by the system, you can also start your normal download program manually and it should work. No special software or drivers are required. The OS sees the card as a disk drive using drivers in the operating system. If you have a Mac, this problem is entirely a figment of your imaginations. Macs do not have problems of this sort, so I hear.
j._scott_schrader
I apologize in advance for my ignorance, but, how do I update a card reader driver? Do I need a new (more recent) card reader? Is it software that I simply download from the Lexar Media web-site? Something else that I need to do? I'm a bumbling idiot when it comes to all this tech stuff. Thanks, Scott
bill_sams
It should be available for free download from the card reader's website. I had to do the same thing a while back to get my PC-based system and card reader to acknowledge my newer cards. My need for update was due to the higher storage capacity of my newer cards, but presumably you'd need to do a similar action to get your new/faster cards to be acknowledged by your existing set-up. j._scott_schrader
Just to let folks know who may be following this thread...I contacted Lexar and they said the 80x CF card is not compatable with the Jump Shot card reader. I need to purchase a different card reader. Thanks for all of your responses, Scott
