roderick_white
Hi there, looking for a 30D and some lenses, i really like Adorama and B&H but would LOVE to find a great deal! If anyone could help I would sure apreciate it. Thanks-Rod
sattler123
Unless you buy from a reputable vendor you will be in for a ride - and it won't be pretty - just read the vendor reviews: http://www.resellerratings.com/ . Whenever you find a deal that is substantially better than what B&H or Adorama have to offer it is a scam. There are other reputable and very service oriented vendors of course (Badger Graphics, OneCall, Midwest Photot Exchange) but their deals will be very similar to B&H. david_wu6
PCNAtion is another good site.
phoneguy
B&H, or Adorama. Don't look for a "To good to be true" deal Mike
vibin
From someone who's learned it the hard way, just go with B&H or one of the vendors mentioned by others above. Otherwise you'll get burned.
gdanmitchell
I agree with the other posters regarding Adorama and B&H. On the other hand, if you are patient and watch carefully you can sometimes find short-term better deals from Dell and Amazon, but they don't last long. alton
Check your local store and see if they will try to come close to B&H and then you'll have real people to talk to. Especially if you need to return it for any reason. "Real deals" are usually real bad.
palfy
Go to pricegrabber.com (or any of your favorite deal site), search for 30D, and eliminate all vendors with less than 1000 reviews and less than a 4.0 rating. Then match the remaining vendors with resellerratings.com to pick the one you want to buy from. You might find some that are cheaper than B&H, but the savings will be in the single digits percentage-wise. E.g., I just ran the query and the subsequent matching. The cheapest one, including shipping, is buydig.com at $1299. Not a lot cheaper than B&H, so don't have any unrealistic expectations.
delwyn_ching
B&H or Adorama are your best bet. Haven't seen anyone with lower prices and if it is, it's probably a scam.
brian_potts
There are very, very, very few honest photography stores. I am not sure what it is about photography equipment, but it seems to bring more scams than anything else that I am aware of.

As general good advice, B&H and Adorama will suit you well. You can also look at places like Canoga and 17th Street Photo.

Most places are very bad. Take a look at these photo stores before ordering. It is scary how a magazine ad or on-line store can look. The pictures of the actual store fronts is more telling.

jmf
let me just put a plug in for Calumetphoto. Great service, although their prices tend to be a few percent higher than B&H's. There's a lot of collective knowledge behind the recomendations you've seen so far and you won't go wrong with any of the names I've seen mentioned. It's a LOT of money (at least it is for most of us), and there's no reason to gamble.

Brian P Bower CamraScapes
Allens Camera is well stocked and he will beat B&H best price. Great service. He has both new and used and is a Canon Authorized dealer. I bought my Epson 4000 printer and several L lenses from him. Check out his positive comments in the Photo.net community buyers and sellers comments. http://www.photo.net/neighbor/view-one-about?id=2&about=Allen+Camera+%28PA%29 Go to, http://www.allenscamera.com/

m_barbu1
I've had great experiences with B&H Photo and Amazon (actually, OneCall through Amazon). The only "too good to be true" deals I would "trust" are the ones I sometimes see from Dell, but be sure to factor in the cost of sales tax and shipping! jonduncan
I got my 30D from BeachCamera.com. I ordered it at 6:30amEST and it shipped the sameday. No phone calls for "confirmation" just to sell me something. I was real pleased and got an amazing price on a 18-55 kit (same price you can get the body only in most places). Search www.shopper.com and check store ratings at another site. Your milage may veriy.
