Mountain Light Gallery in Bishop, CA offers spring and fall photography workshops,

(usually about 3 1/2 days in length) with some of the most well-known nature

photographers working today. Photographers like Frans Lanting, David Muench, Jack

Dykinga and John Shaw.

I've taken a number of these workshops from Mountain Light (including one with Galen

Rowell before he passed away). They tend to be intense workshops with usually three very

early morning field sessions and two afternoon field sessions with lectures and critiques

sandwiched in-between the field sessions.

I have found these workshops to be very rewarding in helping me develop my landscape

photography skills.

More information on these workshops can be found at: http://www.mountainlight.com/

Forgive the shamelss plug here, but if you're looking for something like what Galen taught with his Mountain Light Workshops, but prefer a more one-on-one mentor / teacher approach, you're welcome to consider one of my custom private workshops. You might say I have a bit of an inside track on that style.
I can plug as shamelessly as Gary! I conduct nature and travel photography workhops and tours throughout the year and have done so since 1982. Locations are primarily in California, and I conduct for the Yosemite Association, the San Diego Natural History Museum, and through my own Image Quest Photography.

I also conduct workshops in Yellowstone and usually somewhere in the southwest each year.

The attached photo shows a happy participant from my May, 2004 workshop in Yosemite.

Thanks Peter for the endorsement! Mountain Light currently has a few spaces in our March

27-30 Death Valley Workshop with David Muench, and our spring and fall workshops with

Jack Dykinga. I will likely be adding a 5-Day High Sierra wilderness workshop in late July,

complete with "cowboy gourmet" fare prepared for us by a camp cook, and mule transport

of participants and gear to a basecamp at 11,000ft. I'll also be teaching a 3-day workshop

when the aspens are in full color in Fall 2006. We always have a blast, and we pride

ourselves on offering the best run, best supported landscape photography workshops in

the business. Of course, with the dramatic High Sierra as a setting, we have an unfair

advantage. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.

Happy Holidays!

Gary may be shameless but he's also modest. If you didn't catch the hint in his post - he actually worked with Galen Rowell for several years and has first hand experience assisting with his workshops (not to mention he's an accomplished landscape photographer in his own right and author of several books). I've had the pleasure of his company on several trips and can vouch for his expertise.

I am sure there are many terrific workshops oput there that I have not been to, but I want to echo the recommendation for the Gerlach workshops as I have been on them. I have attended both the Summer and Fall Color workshops in Michigan and thought they were both different and both fantastic. If you want any particulars about them or more info about my experience feel free to contact me off list.
