guitarlover
Canon seems to be doing pretty well:http://today.reuters.com/business/newsArticle.aspx?type=technology&storyID=nT314049
yakim_peled1
Canon, if you want even more profit, make us a 70-200/4 USM L IS.... Happy shooting, Yakim.
jeff_plomley1
...and a 200-400/4 USM L IS, please please, please.....
jean_marc_liotier
Jeff Plomley , dec 13, 2005; 08:29 a.m. > ...and a 200-400/4 USM L IS, please please, please..... Now that would be sweet ! Maybe it would more realistically be a 200-400/4-5.6 USM L IS, but still it would be a logical extension of all the 70-200s and probably better than using them with a 2x teleconverter. dcheung
what they really need is either: 24-70 2.8L IS or 24-105 2.8L IS
KenPapai
Actually Canon needs to offer an excellent, prime EF sub 18mm L lens for under $900 and re-engineer and modernize their 50mm 1.4.
terry_smith2
An 85/1.2 II with faster AF. A 58/1.2 L to replace the 50/1.0 L. A 24-135/2.8-4 L (well, OK, 2.8 all the way if they can make it with 82mm or smaller filter size). IS of course... A 50 Macro that goes to 1:1 all by itself and has USM. Update all the old primes...24, 28, 35, 50/1.8, 135 SF. Give them all cheap USM and a 58mm filter size. A 100/2.8 USM Macro with IS. Is a rectilinear 10 mm lens possible? affen_kot
i could go for an updated set of primes as well; particularly a 35mm 2.0 with ring usm and a build quality equal to that of the 60mm 2.8 macro. it might be too much to ask that they give it a circular diaphragm as well.
ky2
Oh screw IS. Make us a Ring-USM 50, will ya? ? ?
stephenwagnerphoto.com
Here's another vote for new WA primes. Let's see some USM. That's the reason I haven't bought one yet. And I'm not talking EF-S.
bobatkins
The reason Canon profits are up is probably because they don't decide on what to market based on wish lists from photo forums on the web!
ted_marcus1
Update their venerable 28-135IS so the short end begins at 18mm. That would compete with Stigma, but offer wider availability and (one hopes) better quality control.
affen_kot
...or these wish lists help them decide what not to come out with - we'd become content with our gear and stop buying :(
PuppyDigs
I just want a DSLR with ECF. Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see. - Robert Hunter
bennyboy
Bob, or perhaps they do, but give us exactly the opposite :)
jon_austin
I just bought a 24-105, which my wife *insists* on boxing back up, wrapping, and giving to me for Christmas. : ) I may buy a 28/1.8 if I feel the need to fondle more gear; otherwise, I'm all set equipment-wise unless/until Canon produces either the 70-200/4 L IS mentioned earlier, or a sub-$2K successor to the 5D. I guess my only recourse now is to go out and use the stuff, and try to become a better photographer ...
robert_potts1
They have taken their best zooms and skewed them too far to the wide side to accomodate small frame sensors. They should turn the 24-105 into a 35-135.
theoldmoose
I'd like to see a fast, wide angle prime, (EF-S would be OK). Something like a 15mm or 17mm f1.8. On a 1.6x crop-factor camera, that would give me an available-light equivalent field of view to a 24mm or 28mm, respectively. After collecting 28mm f1.8, 50mm f1.8, and 85mm f1.8, it's really the major missing prime in my set for the 20D, and it would match my OM film body 28,50,85,135 counterparts. 25asa
My vote is for a 55 1.2L or 50 1.2L and a 200-500 zoom. There were rumours the 200-500 may be considered.
guitarlover
I am sure Canon has a well placed marketing strategy that is making them reap the profits. So, are they even considering our suggestions? What we really need is $500.00 L series lenses. Photography is for everyone and so it should be affordable to anyone. Also, $500 quality ultra wide angle lenses. A dream lens would be a 10-300mm super quality L lens, which would let me carry only one lense- no more changing lenses.-This for only $2000.
dcheung
^ haha, i dreamed of such a lens.... 15mm - 1500mm F1.0L IS with stunning image quality but weighs no more than 4 kg.and dimensions small enough for 1 person to carry. Cost.... $30,000 doesn't sound to outrageous
rmdavis
That's pretty funny Jon. I bought a 28-135 last night, and my wife also insists that I wrap it and put it under the tree. I thought I was the only one!
rmdavis
My wish list: Hubble=> EOS body adapter, availablew on e-bay for $29.
25asa
Oh is that the Hubble telescope to EOS adapter? :P I want one too. As for the 50mm f1.2L- its been rumoured it might be released spring 2006. I guess we'll have to wait for PMA 2006 to see if this rumour is true or not.
