steve6
I've noticed that on this lens infinity focus starts about 200 metres away! On my other (slr)lenses infinty is about 30 feet. Is this normal and the same on other M lenses,or is it a case of just accurate focussing on my 0.58 body?
michael_darnton1
If you mean that your viewfinder images come together at infinity subjects (2 miles distant) with the lens set about 200 meters away, it means your rangefinder needs adjustment. steve6
What I mean is that you have to use the rangefinder to focus on subjects up to about 200 metres away till you get to the infinity position on the lens. With previous cameras it was about 30 feet. BTW my M6 & lens are brand new.
michael_darnton1
Well, as I said, if the lens hits the stop at 200 meters, something's wrong--it should stop when you're viewing something a couple of miles away. Find something REALLY distant, and see if you can line up the images, or if you can't quite do it. Apparently it's not uncommon for Leicas to come from the factory a little out of whack, and somewhere below is an archived thread on how to adjust your own.
