somak_ray
Recently my F5 stopped film advancing after the 20th exposure of a 36exp. film. It just shows "END" of the film and I have to rewind it.Anybody faced a similar problem? Thanks in advance-SR
ShunCheung
Have you tested with other rolls of film yet? If not, get a couple of expired rolls to test your camera with. You need to eliminate the possibility that the problem is with that particular roll of film only; e.g. it could be stuck at the 20th frame. If you have the same problem with other rolls of film, it could be more serious.
todd peach seattle, washi
Wasn't this a problem with very early F5's, linked to a battery management circuit? A low (or perceived low) battery voltage causes the camera to do this. Just my recollection.....
Jerry_
What type of batteries are you using? If NiMH AA cells, the drop in voltage may be enough to cause your problem. Eight 1.2 or 1.25 volt cells do not = Eight 1.5 volt cells. The F5 (and the F100) like 1.5 volt cells; the N90s (and the N8008s) work OK with anything. somak_ray
Many thanks for your answers. This happened for the first time. I use 8X 1.5 volts manganese cells. The battery was indeed low.I don't know whether it has to do with atmosphere temperature, but it was minus 8 degree centigrade. -SR
ShunCheung
Glad your problem is solved (I hope). In cold climates, it is best to use Lithium AA batteries or rechargables. Lithium AA's are expensive, though. In the US, we typically pay US$10 for 4. That means $20 for each set of 8 for the F5.
erik_loza
Lithium, always... Better and lighter than all.
