gene_austin Posted January 30, 2006 Share Posted January 30, 2006 I have a <A HREF=http://tinyurl.com/9nmd2>Wein HS shoe mount opticalslave</A> that I'm using with Canon, Metz and Nikon flashes thatrefuses to fire in certain situations. If I attach a Pocket Wizardreceiver to the PC terminal of the Wein HS it will fire all my flashes[Canon 550ex, 420ex, 540ez, Metz 54-MZ3 (w/SCA 3952 foot) and NikonSB-28dx] flawlessly. However, the built in optical slave of the WeinWILL NOT work with either the 540ez or the SB-28dx. And to top itoff, the optical slave only works when triggered from one of the othershoe mount flashes. My Adorama Flaspoint 620 strobe has no effect,even when I crank it all the way up (300ws), turn off the modelinglamp and place the Wein HS/flash combo right in front of it. mitchfalk Posted January 30, 2006 Share Posted January 30, 2006 I have 2 of these and occasionally the wheel screw tightener of my flash units will not seat all the way flush with the shoe mount. gene_austin Posted January 31, 2006 Author Share Posted January 31, 2006 Mitch, I don't think the unit being attached securely enough is the issue as it will fire when I attach the Pocket Wizard and hit the test button.
