Rich B NYC
I have the "latest" version of the 50mm Summicron and really dislike the built-in lens shade. Does anyone know the number of a Leica "vented" shade (if any) that will fit this lens? Thanks. Rich
Rob F.
The vented hood is #12585, and is designed to clip into the retaining groove in a version III or earlier Summicron. I don't believe the current version (IV) has this groove. How to make it work: Buy a UVa filter and cut a groove into it that the hood can engage. I'll see if I can post a thread on how to do this. tom5
I use a B+W rubber shade without a filter. The Leica 39mm cap fits nicely on the collapsed shade. Taking the cap off and popping the shade open gives better shading and less effort than playing with the built-in shade.
karl_georg_wolf
> Richard Try the round NOT vented shade available for the current collapsible ELMAR 2.8/ 50 instead. I use a black one with my chrome SUMMICRON and it doesnt vignet at all even at full aperture. The partno. is 12550, 12549 for the chrome version. The vented hood wont fit the current SUMMICRON-M 50. The ELMAR hood stays in place all the time, no worry about the retracting built in hood. kajabbi
Check out americaneagle stores(on E-bay) They have a good hood that screws on the lens or on a filter with both male and female threads.
