sait_akkirman
Seperate rangefinder made by Leitz of the same kind as used by Leica 1, but has no mounting bracket to attach it to camera. Serial no: 24236. Brassing on the edges but accurate. Black body with chrome dial. Any info including value would be greatly received. (The Leica Collectors Guide at the local library is out for 3 weeks !!)
MTC Photography
You don't mount it, hold the Leitz rangefinder in your hands and rangefind the distance and transfer it to your camera.
victor_randin
The Leitz rangefinder is to be mounted vertically in an accessory shoe with its end equipped with a round platform.
MTC Photography
A separate rangefinder is really redundant.
Because every one is born with a precision rangefinder--- A pair of eyes has a baseline of about 7 cm--- if you learn how to use it, you can measure distance with your eyes as accurately as M6
See my article on
How to Use Your Eyes as Rangefinder
sait_akkirman
Dear Martin Tai, I don't see the relevance of your answer to my question. I am trying to find out what is the said rangefinder worth before Monday, when it is coming up for auction.
MTC Photography
Sait, I thought you were trying to use the rangefinder. At one time I was looking for a small rangefinder for my Minox camera.
msitaraman
Martin,
That really is absolutely brilliant!
ray_moth
I concur, sometimes the simple solutions are the cleverest. Martin was only trying to be helpful in his answers, by the way. Sait did say that *any* info including value would be greatly appreciated.
