I am really impressed with how well the camera takes advantage of available light. The first picture is my brother and his fiancee on the DC Metro, and is the first one I took (I know it is terrible). When you have a large variation in light as in the first exposure, move the meter close to the subject so it is not overly influenced by the bright background. We all made a whole lot of mistakes, so file this one away and try not to do it again. You could have done a whole lot worse. Put up the next shots soon.
