dhiren
I had posted this question some time back and someone asked me to share results of Provia 100F cross-processed, here is the link. Thanks Dhiren

roger_smith4
Thank you for sharing the cross-processed people.
wickedmartini
How did you expose and process?
aleskoubik
Dhiren, Love the pictures ! I have a stupid question : What is cross-processed ? Thanks Ales
r.t. dowling
Interesting. Looks like Kodachrome 64 processed normally. ;-)
john_h.1
Wow. Cross-processing makes people in photos grow horns and have bizarre facial complexions.
francis_bartus
Quick question: why did you choose Provia 100F to cross-process. Would you expect Astia 100F or Velvia 100 to yield similar contrasty resutlts? Or does Provia 100F have some specific properties that make it better for cross-processing?
Thanks,
Francis
dhiren
Ales, check this out
dhiren
I used 100 ISO film and exposed it at ISO 80 ... exposures were more or less accurate. I selected Provia because, I had seen some really interesting results with the discontinued provia and provia 400. Now I am experimenting with Kodak slides. jtk
IMO nothing positive was accomplished by cross processing...rarely is, but especially not here. These images would be better in B&W than in muddy color.
jtk
...for that matter, it doesn't look like they really were cross-processed...just damaged. What lab claimed they cross-processed?
dhiren
"IMO nothing positive was accomplished by cross processing...rarely is" John, thanks for preaching us what we should be doing and we should not be doing, energy well-spent !! jtk
Dhiren, I wasn't preaching. The color is miserable rather than interesting. I doubt the lab cross-processed. Doesn't look like it. No sniveling!
jtk
Sorry. It was unfair of me to use your images to sweepingly comment on the whole practice of cross-processing. You evidently have special access or confidence in relation to interesting photographic subjects...IMO their weirdness/hilarity might better have been allowed to stand on its own.. I think your images would have been stronger without the dubious lab work.
dhiren
John, I am not an expert in cross-processing and this is my first attempt. Whatever I have read/seen on photo.net and flickr.com about cross processing my results look consistent, as far as provia 100f is concerned. Btw, I am using something called new lab, located in SF and it is considered as a very reliable lab. I would love to see if you have better cross-processed shots & if you could explain any technical details.
James G. Dainis
Dhiren ..
Some of your photos seem to have more of a cross processing effect than others. The pale greenish effect that is usually imparted to flesh tones works well with your subject matter.
Don't you just hate it when your in-laws show up all at once? James G.
