rs1
Hello All,
I just got me a Kiev 4AM from sunny Odessa. I had earlier picked upthree lenses at a flea market (2 Jupiter 8m's, 1 Jupiter 12) and justneeded a camera to go with it. Now, I am trying to build a lens shadefor the 50mm Jupiter 8. If any of you have a lens shade for this lensor the similar Helios 103, could you tell me the dimensions? Thediameter at the front and the length?

Had to revisit my grade school trigonometry but I managed to figureout how to create a cone frustum on paper so I can just fold it andstick it up to create the shade. Now, I assumed the outer diameter tobe 62mm (I got a clue about this dimension from a website) and theinner to be 41mm (so it can slip on to the rim of the lens) and alength of 23mm. But these are all assumptions and though I built ashade with these measurements for testing, I will be very grateful ifsomeone could supply me with some real data.
furcafe
All I know that they take 40.5mm filters/hoods. You do know that you can buy a nice vented 40.5mm lens hood on eBay for less than $20 US?
michael schub
I have an excel file that calculates lens hood sizes based on certain lens specs. I think this zip file is the same program (see link at top of page to hoodcalc.zip) http://www.pentaxclub.co.kr/bbs/zboard.php?id=Used&page=2&sn1=&divpage=1&sn=off&ss=on&sc=on&select_arrange=name&desc=desc&no=
rs1
Hi Michael,

Thanks you, thank you, and thank you! That spreadsheet was just what I was looking for. Now I can make a hood for that Zeiss Ikon Nettar I picked up a few days ago, and my Yashica A TLR among a few others. Fantastic!
