Seeking Jupiter 8m/Helios 103 lens hood dimensions

Hello All,

<p>I just got me a Kiev 4AM from sunny Odessa. I had earlier picked up

three lenses at a flea market (2 Jupiter 8m's, 1 Jupiter 12) and just

needed a camera to go with it. Now, I am trying to build a lens shade

for the 50mm Jupiter 8. If any of you have a lens shade for this lens

or the similar Helios 103, could you tell me the dimensions? The

diameter at the front and the length?</p>

<p>Had to revisit my grade school trigonometry but I managed to figure

out how to create a cone frustum on paper so I can just fold it and

stick it up to create the shade. Now, I assumed the outer diameter to

be 62mm (I got a clue about this dimension from a website) and the

inner to be 41mm (so it can slip on to the rim of the lens) and a

length of 23mm. But these are all assumptions and though I built a

shade with these measurements for testing, I will be very grateful if

someone could supply me with some real data.</p>

All I know that they take 40.5mm filters/hoods. You do know that you can buy a nice vented 40.5mm lens hood on eBay for less than $20 US?

I have an excel file that calculates lens hood sizes based on certain lens specs. I think this zip file is the same program

<p>Thanks you, thank you, and thank you! That spreadsheet was just what I was looking for. Now I can make a hood for that Zeiss Ikon Nettar I picked up a few days ago, and my Yashica A TLR among a few others. Fantastic! </p>
