obede
Hi, dear I have a Nikon FM2 and I intend to buy a Nikkormat EL2.A friend of mine offers one to me. It is pristine. Is it a good camera?Where can I get its instruction manual (free)? How much does it cost? Thank you very much. Obede

john_stockdale2
Does the EL2 offer any advantage over the FM2 which is one of the all time classic manual SLRs? If you need a second body, perhaps consider another FM2 or the slightly later one the FM2N.There's spme info at (also look at their index for other articles) http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikkormat/elseries/index.htm
david_h._hartman
If the price is right the Nikon EL2 is a fine camera but its been superseded by FE2. The Nikon EL2 does not offer TTL flash where as the FE2 does. The Nikon EL2 offers a top shutter speed of only 1/1,000th while the FE2 offers 1/4,000th. A Nikon FM2 and FE2 make a very nice pair. I prefer the FE2 during the day and with flash and the FM2n during the evening when using fast prime lenses.

I hate to recommend against such a fine camera but for the best results Id buy a clean Nikon FE2 or FM2n. Im a former Nikon EL2 owner.

Best,

Dave Hartman.
