John Crowe
I have repaired the linkages and springs in Canon FD mount lenses and assumed that doing so with a Nikon AI lens would not be that much more difficult a task. My Nikon AI telephoto lens, with internal focusing, was unable to open to the maximum aperture, so I thought it would be straight forward to repair the aperture mechanism completely or at least fix it in the open position. I have no intent to use it other than wide open. I removed the mount itself and the ring with the aperture markings. I have removed the screws around the barrel of the rear section of the lens but the rear inner barrel will still not come out to provide access to the aperture control mechanism. What am I missing? I would appreciate any help possible and I have some digital images of the lens I could post if necessary. I have tackled this myself simply because I have done it with Canon FD lenses before and it is usually a one hour task. Thank-you.
