dan magnus
I recently found a good deal on Ebay for a Quantum 1+ battery so I couldn't pass it up. However, I discovered that the Quantum cord to connect to my 580ex (MB5) is not ideal. If you're familiar with this connector, it looks like 4 AA batteries and slides into the battery compartment. Unfortunately the cord prevents the battery door from closing. The instructions note this and advise to velcro the door closed. I don't like this idea, and I don't like the idea of modifying (ie. mutilating) the already fragile battery door. The 580ex does have a power port other than the battery compartment...do you know of another cord that will allow the Quantum 1+ to connect to this port, rather than the battery compartment? bruce_rubenstein
The other "port" is a high voltage input. The 1+ is a low voltage pack and can't be connected to it. You would need one of the Turbo packs to connect to the HV input.
daniel_murtin1
You might try Canon's Compact Battery Pack CP-E3.
