mallik
I read earlier that Leica stopped manufacturing Digilux2 (but not stopped selling). I also read that a Leica MD is on the way this year. Even if Leica MD is on the way, why should Digilux2 manufacturing be stopped, unless a newer version of this is being introduced? I see Digilux2 and Leica MD as two different categories of products. socke
May be Panasonic decided the LC-1 is outdated and stoped producing it and there are not enough parts left to make new Leica Digilux 2s from.
terry_rory
Because they are going to be marketing the Leica badged version of the new Panasonic DMC-L1 (4/3 format SLR) soon.

alejandrokeller
Because you should not get attached to any digital camera. They life cycles are still way to short ;)
carl_bretteville
On the Leica user forum Andy Piper quoted Leica as having ordered 40.000 D2s from Panasonic. That was the production run and when they were built it was 'out of production', this was about two years ago. Aparently this is up from 10.000 units of D1. So not a bad increase. - Carl
huw_finney
Short life cycle? My digicam is 7 years old now (not 5 as I said in another post) and still working a treat.
alejandrokeller
Yes Huw, I really meant production cycle... still, compared to my over 50 year old isolette III, 7 years dont sound like much to me ;)
