Basic lighting, still life

I tried to shoot some flowers (indoors) via sunlight but heavy cloud

took over and the light level plummeted.

 

Re flowers (or still life generally), is there a single, (low-cost)

light source (not flash) that replicates the light of the sun (apology

for any ambiguity), ideally compatible with daylight colour slide film?

 

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hot lights with blue 80A filters over them. Just don't get them too close or you will "melt" your flowers.

Yesterday, I had the same problem. Then, I got the idea of using my aquarium lights. They're perfect but the fish were in the dark for an hour.
