evgenys
Hello, friends!
This time I want to show you the pictures made with the one of the most mass produced camera in the history of our civilization (more than 21 million were produced): small piece of plastic from USSR with the name "Smena-8M". I have nothing to say about this camera, except it was the entry-level camera with unchangeable lens and leaf shutter with the speeds from 1/15 to 1/250 plus B. Reasonably cheap Smena-8M became the first camera for young amateurs (for me too). Otherwise its cheapness it has the nice lens, which exceeds by the quality the lenses of the most P&S cameras. Pictures presented here were made with two different cameras: first was made in 1990 and the second ? in 1992 (but their design remains unchanged since early 1970-es, when it was presented to the public).

sndr
Wow, that was my first camera! got it when I was about 10 years old. Had lots of fun with it; the pictures (B&W, early eighties) should still be around somewhere. It wasn't very hard to take decently exposed pictures with it, without a light meter, using a little table on the back of the camera.

haje_holmstr_m
Thanks for the Moscow sightseeing! I have a Smena 2, a Smena 6 and a Smena Symbol and they're all really good and reliable cameras.
larrydressler
And you all make fun of my Communistic Plasticks. Great..... I am taking the Vilija-Auto out again this week. I think it has a better lens than the Kiev mock Rollie35ant the sel meter still works. Larry

haje_holmstr_m
I usually use what's available and cheap ;) I think that's Tri-X 400. Larry, have you posted any photos shot with the Vilia Auto somewhere? I have one russian camera that's NOT been a positive surprise so far. It's an Agat 18 half framer, cute little plastic thing but something is very wrong with the aperture or the shutter speeds or both. I hope to figure out how to get some acceptable images from it soon. I also have another half frame camera, a Chaika II, a little wonder, always producing good pictures. It's almost boring..
