chiranjeeb
This weekend, high winds knocked over my tripod and camera. The lens (75-150mm f3.5 E) took the hit, but the damage was not too bad: dented filter threads and a stiff focusing ring. Does anybody know if a stiff focusing action implies that my lens is now somehow misaligned and will suffer optically? How expensive would it be to fix it? evelyn_wilson
Hi Chiranjeeb, I dropped my nikon 80-200 (on cement) last year and also bent the focus ring. I kept shooting that day and the pictures were fine. I did send it to Nikon Canada to be repaired. The bill was $235.18. My insurance covered that and the mailing expense. Good luck. jv1
If it's not properly functioning anymore, pick up another one for less than $50. I did.
johnw63
Based on current auction prices, I'd say it would be cheaper to pick up another one than get it fixed. Unless you find a shop that will quote a nice LOW price to repair it.
