Shutter release controller for N90s

Hi everyone,

 

I have been wanting to start using a tripod and remote shutter

release for my N90s so I can make my macro shots crisper. I am not

familiar with the different shutter release controllers on the

market now and remember them being rather expensive.

 

Could someone please give me an idea of some good remotes and/or

controllers (I prefer for them not to be wireless) that I might try.

Nikon MC-30 remote cord, $55.

 

Nikon ML-3 fancy schmancy remote control set, $135.

there are generic versions of the MC-30 sold on ebay for $10. can't say from personal experience that they work, do a search maybe?

also, KEH usually has a pile of these for cheap. I got my MC-20 for ~$25 from them

You can use the self timer on the n90s too to avoid movement on macro shots. Joe Smith

Re. the inexpensice Chinese-made RC's that are commonly sold on Ebay: Mine works well

enough but it can't compare to the Nikon-made RC. No threaded attachment to the 10-pin

terminal (press-fit, instead), the gauge of cable is much thinner than that of the Nikon,

and the actual switch's action is not as precise. Probly' worth what I paid for it but not

more. If you can get a genuine Nikon cable reasonably, go that route instead. Good luck.

I bought a used MC-30 on eBay to use with my N90s. I think I paid $45 for it and it looks new and works perfectly. However, if you want a timed shutter release, then you'll have to go with the MC-20. I'm not sure how much they run.
