Best book on Digital Photo for a beginner...who knows traditional photo...

My father is interested in reading a book on digital photography. He has a working

knowledge of traditional photography so what he needs is a book that builds upon this

understanding.

 

What are the book recommendations for this soon-to-be digital photographer?

It's concerned more with the act of photography than some of the more technical points of digital. For that, back issues of <a href=http://www.luminous-landscape.com>Luminous Landscape</a> are all you need.

"Real World Digital Photography, second edition" by Eismann, Duggan & Gray.

As a good guide to the transition from film to digital try The Digital SLR Handbook by

Michael Freeman.

 

This book assumes a working knowledge of shooting film and covers all aspects of digital

photography in a practical and straightforward format.

 

Recommended.

Digital Photography by Tom Ang helped me out a lot when I was starting with digital. It also has some explanations on scanning film and post processing.
