nicholas_rab1
Has anyone used this rollfilm holder before? I am considering itprimarily based on weight, as it looks to be much lighter (ie plastic)than the other chinese 6x12 backs. Seems like it would fit into anultralight 4x5/6x12 kit quite nicely. Obviously if the thing haslight leaks/film transport problems/other mechanical issues it's justnot worth it, so hoping someone else has tried it first! w_t1
I'm happy with my Horseman 6x12. You get what you pay for, better to buy quality stuff once. Personally, I wouldn't use something that sounds like a side dish at a vietnamese restaurant.
nicholas_rab1
I am aware of the quality difference, and I appreciate the buy once and be done with it approach. Cheapness rarely pays off in equipment. <p> However, I am interested in it as a very light solution to go with my lightweight camera into the backcountry. If it's close to the car I can use sheetfilm. I was just hoping someone had been the guinae pig first.
robert_hurd
Hi, Nicholas, I've recently purchased a Shen-Hao 6x17, but I am glad you posted your question, so folks can check the product line. I had not heard of Guo-Hua before. I checked their website, and the products look good. (At work, we are blocked from auction sites, so I will have to check eBay at home to see prices.) http://www.guo-hua.com.cn/fj1.htm http://www.guo-hua.com.cn/zhuji1.htm Robt. vinny_walsh
I saw these on feebay the other day and considered it for a moment since my shen-hao 4x5 can't handle the weight of the shen-hao 6x12 back. The weight throws the focus off enough so that i never get a sharp neg unless i'm pointing straight down. This is comparing sheet film exposures taken at the same time. The shen-hao also suffers from light leaks. My worst lf purchase yet.
razzledog
I just received a 6x12 Guo-Hoa rollback and at first it looks OK for the money......with the exception that there`s no light seal where the darkslide goes in!. Results show a fair amount of fogging at this point, whether or not the darkslide is removed. I`m working on a method of either fitting a light trap, or just forgeting about it and sealing up the slot!
