leo
-- " Luke, your comment was offensive, uncalled for, and entirely inappropriate for this forum. And you are in a vanishingly small minority in this country. I thank God every day that Bush is our president, but I don't feel it's appropriate to make my political beliefs an issue here except under strongest provocation. " --
Dave , I have to take offense with your comments . You claim that it is uncalled for Luke to state his opinion of the president . Then you go and do the same thing . Everyone has the right to state their opinion on this matter freely .

andrew1
I'm in Williamsburg Brookyln, NYC. Ok, it's really Bushwick, but this is a nice neighborhood!
As for the lousy American political squabble, it has no place here. But if it did, I would have to be rolling around on the floor laughing at someone whom I won't name who seems to believe that Bush is a popular president? A good president? Luke is in a "vanishingly small minority"? I beg to differ. Approval ratings only tell you about who answers these questionaires.
I know we all have our own opinons on this one as much as on whether our summicrons or noctiluxes are better, but we have to be able to express these opinions or we are no longer living in a free country. As for a free forum, let's try to stay on topic, shall we?

djphoto
I would never in a million years have mentioned my political preferences on this forum if it had not been for Luke's gratuitous, insulting, and offensive remarks. I did not feel I could let such statements go unanswered.
However, upon reflection, I apologize to Tony and the list that I replied as I did. It would have been far better to have allowed Luke to stand alone in his tasteless effort to introduce partisan politics into this non-political forum. Watson, I took a class years ago with Cole Weston, who spoke of E.W's trips to Mexico. I'd like to pack both my Leicas and view camera gear and drop down for a visit! I design and build my own view cameras, and have written about this for View Camera Magazine.

martin2
Jacques...I'm glad you attend the annual Pow-wow in my community. It's a great event for our community and surrounding population. It's also a great place to photograph. BTW I've never seen another Leica on the scene. I've seen square hasselblads, xpans, contax etc... I was one of the founding committee members of the event in 1991. I've also done alot of the pow-wow pictures for our community newspaper. See you there next year.
