werner1
I am thinking about a teleconverter for my PRO TL. One look at KEH and the amount of converters from different manufacturers is overwhelming. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding the quality of aftermarket converters compared to Mamiya converters? If you look at the prices at KEH the aftermarket all seem to be similar in price. Are the Mamiya converters that much better to command double the price? Thanks for any suggestions. Werner
shawn_rahman
Werner, I don't know about the Mamiya teleconverters as far as performance (I'm sure they are fine), but the Rokunar 2X converter I have is very good. Especially with the Mamiya 150/3.5. I've seen the Rokunar as low as around $100 in Exc. condition. Hopefully someone will chime in about the quality of the Mamiya converters. Good luck!! rich_morgan1
I have a Mamiya converter and it is soft with visible color fringing. I don't have any other 2x converters for comparison, nor had I ever used one beyond 1.4 previously. I would rate my Nikon 1.4 as quite good, while I rate the Mamiya 2x as barely acceptable. Sorry I don't have any experience with any other 2x converters.
ondebanks
Rich, could you tell us specifically which lens(es) did you use the Mamiya teleconverter with, that showed fringing etc.? Ray
