shotz
Stupid me, while in Dominican Republic I dropped my G690BL whilegetting out of a cab. Ouch! It landed on a corner of the top plate, above the viewfinder window. The thin brass is crunched but seems tohave little other problems, in fact I think the thing stil focuses andshoots. Still, is there any repair shop with some putty and backpaint who can put this right for me? Anyone? Pleaseeee....
ben conover
Putty ? Erm.....nope. If it works, use it. It is not a Leica and dosen't matter if it is dented or crunched. By the time you sent to a repair shop and paid for a repair, you may as well have bought a new one. However, you could simply take off the winding lever and top plate, and panel beat the plate yourself using a small hammer and a piece of wood shaped to fit. Paint? who cares. karl_french1
Frank Marshman at CameraWiz repaired dent in the top plate of my G690 when I sent it to him for a CLA. The paint he used didn't quite match as it was a matte finish, but I didn't care too much as the camera is a user.
stephen_komp
Peter - Whatever you do, don't send your camera to Frank at Camera Wiz. Read my post about my experience with him. Steve
