dave_trayers
I posted a question a week ago or so about getting good separationbetween a black backdrop and the subject. I was using a largeSoftLighterII for key, a 60" umbrella for a fill and a Sunpak 383 fora hairlight.
Someone suggested that I just use the SoftLighter alone and close tothe subject and I should get enough wrap around to not need a fill. Idid just that and used the other stobe with a 20deg honeycomb grid asa hairlight. The Sunpak just wasn't powerful enough, even with a snoot.
I took most of the portraits yesterday and after 200 images I think itwent pretty well. Here's one quick example, a straight conversionfrom RAW and resized:

Thanks again to all of your advice. Tomorrow and Wednesday I'mgoing to shoot the performance, a venue in which I'm a lot more practiced.
