Filters on a Focotar 40/2.8

Recommended Posts

Am I correct to say that the Focotar 40/2.8 has a 40.5 mm front

diameter? Would I be able to screw on a 40.5 mm filter?

I ask because I'm thinking of using a red filter from time to time,

as a safety filter. It would also be interesting to put a soft focus

filter to get a dreamy effect with a sharp negative, although I know

the effect is different from a negative made with a soft filter in

front of the lens in camera.

There aren't any threads on the front of the Focotar lens. The rear is threaded for the use of extension rings. There is a screw adaptor on the inboard side of the lens holder that allows the use of a swing out filter holder that is placed in front of the lens.
